Extortioner posts fake pornography of Dearborn Heights man

A Dearborn Heights man told police officers on Jan. 15 that an online extortioner to whom he refused to pay $5,000 cloned his Facebook account, friended the majority of his contact list, and sent them a link to a pornographic video with his face superimposed on a naked man’s body.

The victim said the extortioner demanded money from him in mid-December, and sent him a link to the incriminating doctored video. He said the person tried to extort money from his wife, as well.
The victim said the extortioner messaged him in both Arabic and English.
He said Facebook did not consider the posting of the link on the cloned account a violation of its standards.
He said he suspects that other Middle Eastern people have been targeted, but are too embarrassed to file a police report.
