Pornhub has released its 2021 year in review detailing Australia’s most searched content and what countries consume the most videos.
Australia has rounded out the top 10 of countries that watch the most adult content on Pornhub, with an unusual category being declared the most popular.
Hentai – or explicit animated content – beat out lesbian as the most viewed category in Australia in 2021. Hentai has become the most popular category in the US also.
Pornhub Sexual Wellness Centre’s Dr Laurie Betitio said that Hentai often has a stronger storyline than other types of porn which can make it appealing to a broad range of viewers.

“Cartoons are more fantastical than regular porn. They may offer more visual stimulation in terms of movements, angles, colors, and facial expressions. Because it’s not real, it can go further, with less constraints that reality offers,” she said.

All-girl content came in second place while the search term “Asian” moved up one spot to the third most searched phrase replacing MILF (Mum I’d Like to F*ck).
The US remained in the top spot as the nation watching the most porn videos, followed by the UK, Japan and then France.

Across the globe, the least favorite time to visit the site is 5am and the most popular 11pm.
The average time spent on the site dropped by nearly half a minute to nine minutes and 55 seconds. Pornhub attributed this to its ‘handy search algorithm and well-curated category tags’.
Users from the Philippines stayed on the site the longest at 11 minutes and 31 seconds.
Lana Rhodes remains the most popular pornstar on the website making her the most searched for a third straight year.
The most viewed categories on the website are Japanese, lesbian and ebony. Interestingly, the category teacher rose by 14 spots. In its year in review, Pornhub said the rise was down to a Taiwanese math teacher who uploaded his calculus tutorials.
He now has 7,700 subscribers and his videos have been watched more than two million times.
Pornhub faced harsh criticism for hosting illegal content on their site and lost major sponsors in the fallout.
This year it published its first transparency report which said it removed approximately 653,465 pieces of content that were identified as potentially harmful.
Pornhub also reviews videos when they’re flagged by law enforcement.
Last year the company received 1,081 legal requests, with nearly half those requests initiated from government entities in the United States. Pornhub says most of these requests deal with non-consensual and child exploitation materials.
