Grinch stands outside elementary school with ‘Santa is Fake, Jesus is Real’ sign, angering parents and scaring kids

A killjoy Texas “pastor” stood outside an elementary school dressed as the Grinch holding up a sign stating “Santa is Fake. Jesus is Real,” in an attempt to steal the holiday joy from the kids inside.

David Harold Grisham posed as the beloved Dr. Seuss character in front of Sleepy Hollow Elementary School in Amarillo, Texas earlier this week professing his belief towards the children and the parents he views as telling a lie

The un-jolly man claimed he was assaulted outside the school while the “police showed up in force” to distract him from his mission and blocked him from “exercising my first amendment rights as much as they could,” Grisham said in a Facebook post.

A video posted to YouTube showed at least two parents confronting Grisham on the sidewalk.

“Hundreds of children heard the message and many parents as well,” He added. “It’s very telling for a society to go this far in protecting a LIE. To go that far in trying to protect kids from hearing the truth. It’s no wonder our country is in trouble.”

“You shouldn’t lie to children,” Grisham can be heard saying before a man grabs his sign, rips it and throws it to the ground.

Grisham then begged the man to “get away from my stuff” before threatening he got his license plate

Grisham was not arrested as he was “lawfully on the sidewalk” and not breaking any laws, the Amarillo Police told ABC 7.

The school’s principal said Grisham was “unwanted and uninvited.”

“I’m saddened by the fact that some of our kiddos and families were frightened because of him,” said Kelsey Williams according to the outlet.

Before his stunt, Grisham posted a twisted version of the holiday poem “T’was the Night Before Christmas” where the homeowner shoots Santa with the ending line “Santa is DEAD, But Christ is ALIVE!”

In a separate Facebook post, Grisham announced even more Grinches would be going out on the streets, to “preach” the same message he had done this week, even asking for money to help fuel and feed the others.

On his Facebook, Grisham says he is “in an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ first and foremost above ALL things. I profess his name before men.”

“I am the pastor of a small group of street preachers who take the Gospel to those who will not step into a church,” he said.

Santa Claus, the holiday figure Grisham has gripes against, is based on the religious figure of Saint Nicholas known to the Dutch as Sinterklaas, one of the inspirations to the jolly icon.

It’s worth noting, Santa Claus is based on a religious figure, Saint Nicholas of Myra.

Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of children, lived from 270-343. He was known for giving gifts. In one case, Saint Nicholas dropped a sack of gold coins through a window so a father could pay a dowry for his three daughters instead of having to force them into prostitution.
