Actors today, especially young actors, are coached by public relations ninjas to avoid any numbers of gaffes when doing press in support of a movie. Actors who are in giant, multi-film franchises are basically turned into robots — because the last thing you want is someone threatening the billion-dollar goose by saying something “inappropriate.”
But occasionally, you get someone like Divergent‘s Shailene Woodley, who made an independent film like Gregg Araki’s White Bird in a Blizzard — in which she appears nude. Occasionally, you get a real person saying real things, like the following, which she spoke of filming her nude seen to Page Six:
“I felt great doing it. I was not fully robed. And our bodies had no makeup. Who needs makeup? I’m only 22. My boobs are great. They don’t need any help. My parents saw the film. I thought it might be awkward, but they both loved it.”
Thank the Heavens for an honest woman.
