10 Amazing Lesbian Sex Scenes Conveniently Found on Netflix
Netflix is about to make your week just that much sexier.
Oh Netflix, how we love you. In fact, weâre not even sure what we love most. It might be the endless hours of exciting, often original programming at our fingertips. Perhaps itâs the collective years of our lives weâve dedicated to binging strange, new TV shows alone in the dark avoiding human contact.
Or maybe itâs that, when browsing for a spontaneous movie night, Netflix for some reason seems to offer more lesbian films than perhaps any other genre. Thatâs right, for better or for worse (occasionally much worse), Netflix is a queer ladiesâ free for all, and weâre loving every moment of it. If youâre feeling skeptical, just remember that Netflix is the site that streams every episode of The L Word and brought us Orange is the New Black, both of which have rendered many sexy lists of their own (here and here)! And so, because we love cinema, weâve shamelessly ranked the best of Netflixâs most sapphic moments for your upcoming movie night enjoyment. And even better, Netflix switches out movies all the time, so as soon as you’ve gone through these, we may have a brand new list waiting for you. Happy viewing, and try to remember to leave your house every once in a while!
1) Kiss Me (2011): Itâs Swedish! Everyoneâs attractive! Itâs about a girl falling in love with her future stepsister! Unfortunately, said girl is presently engaged to her male business partner, and therein lies the conflict (which you will notice is a pretty common conflict in these films). The girls first bond while on a trip together, and after a sexy swimming session hook up for one very long, very intimate, very realistic, sex scene right around the 35 minute mark. Think of Kiss Me as what you can turn to when you want to watch Blue Is the Warmest Color, but not exactly Blue is the Warmest Color because youâve seen it to many times. Which of course brings us to…

Which of course brings us to…
2) Blue is the Warmest Color (2013): In the near future, weâre just going to have to enforce a new queer cinema law where Blue is always unspokenly on, if not at the top, of every one of these lists. For now, letâs just go ahead and give it the high marks. Yes, there was a lot of unfortunate gossip around how the actual, intensely graphic, years-long (feeling) scene was made, but letâs put that aside for the sake of cinema and just applaud LĂ©a Seydoux and Adele Exarchopoulos for their hard work and dedication to realistic lesbian storytelling.
And it if you’re feeling like I’m lying because you’ve been watching the movie for an hour and thirteen minutes and nothing’s happened, just wait one more minute and you’re all set for quite a while. The movie itself is a beautiful and honest portrayal of a young womanâs sexual discovery, and actually being in a good movie is always a good way to make a sex scene shine that much more!
3) Loving Annabelle (2006): When a bad girl student meets a by-the-book teacher at a Catholic boarding school, a classic lesbian film is made. Annabelle, the titular Buddhist badass charms straightlaced Simone in all sorts of ways, including a public serenade session during a school dance. And we all know that no matter how unconventional the relationship may be, once someone gets up and sings you a song at the school dance, thereâs a pretty good chance sex will soon be involved. And it totally is. Next thing we know, Annabelle and Simone have released their inhibitions and share one sexy, sensual night together in Simoneâs room. âWhen?â you may ask specifically. Just about an hour and 2 minutes in. Enjoy!
4) Bloomington (2010): Yet another movie about a forbidden teacher student relationship? Hey, if the queer cinema formula ainât broke, donât fix it. Bloomingtonâs on this list a) because Sarah Stouffer, who plays former child actress/current student Jackie is one of the most adorable people ever and b) the sex scenes in this movie get pretty creative. The first one at minute 13 is a lovely little how-to for beginners, followed by a cute little fireplace/engineer talk-foreplay scene (minute 29), and leveled up by a scene where teacher Catherine dares Jackie not to make a sound as they get it on in a library (which is a whole new level of risky and ill-advised for a teacher/student relationship. And can be found around minute 37). Letâs just stop here, because youâve probably already stopped reading to go watch Bloomington.
5) I Canât Think Straight (2007): I Canât Think Straight certainly isnât about to win any awards for subtly in a title, but it does win the award for most upbeat sex scene montage! This oneâs another film about a soon-to-be-bride, but this time itâs a Middle Eastern woman discovering sheâs in love with with a British Indian girl. This film is adorable, if not exactly a masterpiece, with a bubbly ending that will leave you smiling unless you hate happiness. There are a couple sex scenes here, but the hour and 14 minute mark gives way to pure, sexy cuteness.
6) The Four-Faced Liar (2010): In a shocking twist, The Four Faced Liar is about a woman who enters a relationship with another woman while being engaged to a man. Just kidding, this plot really does happen a lot! But The Four Faced Liar involves New Year’s Eve party bathroom sex (48 minutes in), and won the HBO Audience Award for Best First Feature Film at Outfest, so you know itâs actually a pretty good movie. And it is indeed a fun and fascinating little indie with good actors, good writing, and good sex. The true Netflix trifecta.
7) Concussion (2013): Concussion teaches us that sometimes getting hit in the head with a baseball can really open you up to an entirely new lifestyle. Specifically for somewhat average lesbian housewife Abby, this involves becoming a prostitute. However, itâs an unexpected but familiar client that brings out some of the filmâs sexiest moments, especially right at the hour and 5 minute mark (though donât skip the âpull my hairâ scene 50 minutes in). Concussion also features Emily Kinney who plays Beth on The Walking Dead, so hey, thereâs something for everyone.
8) Itty Bitty Titty Committee (2007): If you havenât heard of this movie, youâve definitely at some point stopped to study the title while perusing Netflix. And in that case, hell, youâve probably turned on the movie. And if that wasnât enough to convince you, thereâs a super hot/super loud hotel sex scene right at the 44 minute mark (a couple of them intertwined, actually) that definitely earns it a spot on the list. For many reasons – including adorable star Melonie Diaz – this is one to add to your queer queue.
9) The Girl Who Played With Fire (2009): Mostly this is just sad because the second film in the original Millennium Trilogy series will probably never get Americanized with the glorious Rooney Mara. But at least the Swedes did it really well the first time! About 18 minutes in, Lisbeth Salander and her on again/off again GF Miriam Wu spend a bit of special time together, and we get to see a whole lot more of that dragon tattoo. Come on America, get it together. This remake must be made!
10) Room In Rome (2010): Room in Rome definitely wins the most accurate title award, because it is literally an entire film about two women who have an affair in a hotel room in Rome. And thatâs basically it. Thatâs the movie. Sure, there are conversations and stuff, but we’re not even going to put a minute counter on this one because the movie is called Room in Rome.
