Malin Akerman Joins Showtime Drama Pilot ‘Billions’

Malin Akerman (Watchmen, Trophy Wife) has been cast opposite Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis in the Showtime drama pilot Billions. Written and executive produced by Brian Koppelman and David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin, Billions takes a forensic look at the world of high finance by tracking the approaching collision between two titanic figures: the hard-charging, whip-smart U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti) and the brilliant, ambitious hedge fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Lewis).
Akerman will play Lara Axelrod, a former nurse from humble beginnings who now is  married to billionaire Bobby.
Akerman, repped by WME and Sanders Armstrong Caserta, recently wrapped starring roles in upcoming features Final Girls and The Ticket. She also appeared in I’ll See You In My Dreams, which was sold at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Mallin Akerman played Silk Spectre II, Laurie Juspeczyk in the movie based on Watchmen; originally a very intellegent and sometime slightly sick graphic novel.  Her mother (Sally Jupiter played by Carla Gugino) was the original SS in both formats.  Sally passed on the title, the skills and apparently the body to daughter Laurie.
