Lea Michele wonders if eel is the latest Dildo… Seriously, does it work?
Man inserts eel into rectum from anus in hopes to ‘relieve constipation’
A man in Xinghua, East China’s Jiangsu Province, inserted a 20-centimeter-long eel – a delicacy in coastal China – into his rectum from his anus on July 20 in hopes of relieving constipation, but instead almost lost his life after the eel entered his abdomen.
What motivated the man to do so is a “folk remedy” that says an eel can help with bowel movement. But instead of curing the constipation, the eel went from the man’s rectum to the colon and bit through it, entering the abdomen.
He was finally taken for treatment at Nanchang University Hospital where x-rays revealed the creature was in his abdomen after enduring pain on the first day as he was too embarrassed to see the doctor.
The doctor who gave him the operation said he could have lost his life as the bacteria in the large intestine may cause hemolysis when it reaches his abdominal cavity.
The eel was still alive by the time it was removed during operation. Surgeons believe the eel was inserted up his anus deliberately but they declined to reveal exactly what happened to spare the man’s blushes. The man himself, who is said to have arrived drunk, also refused to explain how an eel found its way up his backside.
It is not the first time doctors in China have had to remove eels from people’s bodies.
In April this year, a 49-year-old surnamed Liu from South China’s Guangdong Province had the same species of eel removed from his intestines after he shoved one of the animals up his anus “to cure constipation”.
A month later, another man from Sichuan Province in south-western China was treated in a similar case, only this time his friends inserted the live eel up his backside as a prank.
Eel aside, an African carp was found in the stomach of a young man in Guangdong in June, 2020, who claimed that the fish “slid into” his rectum when he accidentally sat on it.
The cases did not end there, however, as a high-profile incident known as “Eel-Gate” saw a 20-year-old vlogger known as ‘Qi Qi’ put on a condom over an Asian swamp eel and used it to masturbate during a live broadcast.
The animal became stuck inside her during the July live stream, and she needed life-saving surgery afterwards.
China’s National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications said the vlogger, whose surname is Zhang, and 21 others were arrested as part of a crackdown on porn being broadcast on the live-streaming platform ‘Tiger’.
