Nagalakshmi Choudhary stated that she has taken the matter to the Chief Minister of Karnataka, resulting in the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case.

Congress supporters stage a protest demanding the arrest of Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna over his alleged involvement in the sex scandal, in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Bengaluru: The Chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Women, Nagalakshmi Choudhary, stated that the ‘obscene videos’ case involving JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna is the biggest scandal of the country.
She said that the pen drive she received contained hundreds of explicit videos, some of which purportedly show Prajwal Revanna.

“I wrote to CM and SIT was constituted. The pen drive that I have received has hundreds of videos. In a few videos, it is visible that the person is Prajwal Revanna. I will be writing this to the National Women’s Commission. I mean, it’s the biggest scandal in India,” Ms Choudhary said.

A first information report (FIR) alleging sexual harassment, based on a complaint by a woman who worked at Revanna’s house, was lodged against Prajwal Revanna and his father H D Revanna, an MLA representing Holenarasipur.

The woman complainant told the police that she decided to come forward and name the father-son duo after watching videos of other victims narrating their ordeal.

The woman said Prajwal Revanna began summoning her to his quarters in the fourth month of her employment.

“In a household with six female staff members, apprehension gripped us whenever Prajwal Revanna returned home. Even male colleagues cautioned us to exercise caution,” she said.

The woman alleged that HD Revanna and Prajwal Revanna sexually assaulted women workers in their homes.

“Whenever (HD) Revanna’s wife wasn’t there, he used to call the women to the storeroom and touch them while giving them fruits. He used to remove saree pins and sexually assault women,” she added.

The complainant also claimed that Prajwal Revanna misbehaved with her daughter over a video call.

“My daughter blocked his number after repeated calls,” the complainant said.

Mahila Congress chief says Hassan sex scandal has shaken conscience of Kannadigas, Indians alike

All India Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba on Monday also accused the BJP and JD(S) of being silent over the alleged sex scandal involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and said the horrifying case of violence against women has shocked the nation.

“More than 3000 videos with hundreds of women being sexually harassed, violated and even brutalised by MP Prajwal Revanna over the past few years have shaken the conscience of Kannadigas and Indians alike,” she told at a press conference here.

“These acts of sexual brutality against hapless women has revealed the depravity of MP Prajwal Revanna, but the silence and sheer apathy of the BJP and JDS in this horrendous case is absolutely shameful,” she said.

She alleged that in these videos, some recorded against the consent of the victim, women are seen pleading to be spared but the MP continues to brutalize and sexually violate them. Party ‘karyakartas’, panchayat members, elderly women, women who came asking for help to him and even maids have not been spared.

“The horrible fact is, that the acts of this sexual predator MP Prajwal Revanna was endorsed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he campaigned in Old Mysuru Region on April 14th, 2024,” she alleged.

“….the BJP JDS are still silent which shows you their true Anti Woman DNA!! Will the BJP or JDS answer?”.

Prajwal Revanna, 33 years old, is the first third-generation member of the Gowda clan. He is the son of HD Revanna, who previously served as the PWD minister of Karnataka, and the nephew of HD Kumaraswamy. HD Revanna is the son of HD Deve Gowda, a former Prime Minister and the leader of JD(S).

The BJP, in partnership with the JD(S) for the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka, has distanced itself from Prajwal Revanna in light of the controversy surrounding the alleged sex tapes. Meanwhile, the Congress made a serious accusation, claiming that “a pen drive full of pornographic videos” has been uncovered and that obscene video clips are circulating in Hassan district. The Congress party has alleged that “MP and NDA candidate Prajwal Revanna sexually assaulted thousands of women and objectionable videos of them.”

The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (outraging modesty of a woman).

Prajwal Revanna is said to have left the country for Germany.

The BJP on Sunday distanced itself from sitting Janata Dal (Secular) MP from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, Prajwal Revanna, amid the controversy around his purported sleaze tapes.

S Prakash, the chief spokesperson of the BJP’s state unit, said, “We, as a party, have nothing to do with the videos and neither do we have any comments to make on the SIT probe announced by the state government into the alleged sex scandal involving Prajwal Revanna.

For the Lok Sabha elections, the Janata Dal (Secular) has once again nominated him as their candidate from Hassan. He is competing against the Congress candidate, Shreyas M Patel, who is 31 years old and the grandson of Puttaswamy Gowda.
