Twitter’s decision to rebrand itself simply as “X” has drawn some ridicule owing to its similarity to the adult video streaming site ‘Xvideos’, while the site’s owner Elon Musk joked about altering other elements of the site’s branding including the phrase “tweets” and Twitter Blue.

‘Xvideos’ has been among the top trends on Twitter since Sunday evening after Musk unveiled the social media platform’s new brand identity, with many users pointing out that Twitter videos would technically now be called “X videos.”

The adult streaming site even acknowledged the trend on its Twitter account and thanked Musk for it.

Musk has not commented on this potential branding faux pas, but the billionaire did not shy away from cracking jokes about altering the names of other things on the website.

When asked about Twitter Blue’s new name, Musk responded: “Balls. Just … Balls.”

Musk also appeared to joke that the phrase “tweets” could make way for “X’s” after the rebrand is complete.

In a surprise move over the weekend, Musk announced Twitter was losing its iconic bird logo and simply rebranding as “X”—the same name as the platform’s parent company X Corp. This shift began on Sunday with the website X.com redirecting to Twitter’s homepage. Early on Monday, the blue bird logo disappeared from Twitter’s homepage and was replaced by a stylized white X logo on black background. The change was also reflected on Twitter’s official account and some secondary accounts like @verified. The company’s “about us” page and other accounts like Twitter support still carried the old branding at the time of publishing. “X” has been a decades-long pet project for Musk and has been the brand identity for his vision to transform Twitter into a so-called “everything app.”
