British treasure hunters have been warned to stay away from a village in the Netherlands, where they dug through gardens and public land in search of Nazi-looted riches.
Fifteen people received a police warning and 100, including Britons, were found with a shovel searching for World War II treasure in Ommeren, a village in the province of Gelderland.
Treasure hunters began the search after the Dutch National Archives released hundreds of documents after 75 years under the Official Secrets Act.
They included a government file on the Nazi treasure and a hand-drawn map, with an X marked between Ommeren and Lienden.

According to Dutch media, the map was designed by Helmut Sonder, a furniture maker from Baden-Baden. He was in a German parachute regiment near the front line during Operation Market Garden in September 1944.
He said his brigade had buried necklaces, watches, precious jewelry and cash, stolen during the Battle of Arnhem in the Netherlands in 1944, by a poplar tree by the side of the road.
These objects were looted by German occupying forces during the war, inspiring several films, including Raiders of the Lost Ark.
