Emily Tyra ([ˈɛmɪli] [ˈtaɪrə]): A mixture of dry wit and whimsy. Pleasantly disheveled. Unfiltered. Notable skills: crafting, hugs, irish-exits, bad song-writing.
Born and raised in Minnesota; snow activities, beer, seven-layer bars, and Target are among Emily‘s favorite things. After several years in circus and stunt school, she became a professional mascot. She has a 16 pound rescue cat named Teddy and a mini turtle named Rocket.
Fresh from a few years as a professional ballet dancer with the Boston Ballet and James Sewell Ballet companies, Emily dove into a fast and furious Broadway career starting with her debut in Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway. Shortly after, Emily appeared in the brief Off-Broadway run of The City Club at The Minetta Lane Theater, then moved on to the new musical, Chaplin, at the Barrymore Theater as Lita Grey. Emily then joined the cast of Nice Work If You Can Get It, starring Matthew Broderick, where she also performed the role of Eileen Evergreen and understudied Judy Kaye as The Duchess Estonia Dulworth.
Emily has appeared on screen in season two of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. Most recently, she played Mia Bialy in the new Starz Network original drama, Flesh and Bone from Emmy award-winning writer/executive producer Moira Walley-Beckett, and executive producers John Melfi, Lawrence Bender and Kevin Brown. The show takes an inside look at the dark side of a fictional New York Ballet company, drawing upon Emily’s ballet skills from her company experience. Flesh and Bone also stars Ben Daniels (House of Cards), Sascha Radetsky (Center Stage), Irina Dvorovenko, Raychel Diane Weiner and Sarah Hay. The eight hour mini-series premieres on STARZ November 8th, 2015 with all episodes available for streaming on STARZ Play.
Emily splits her time between Los Angeles and Manhattan and is represented by Abrams Artists Agency and Management 360.

“I was also really drawn to the project when I saw Lawrence Bender’s name on the production list,” Hay says. “He works with Quentin Tarantino and I love Tarantino.”
If Sarah Hay has anything to do with it, this won’t be her last time on-screen. “I definitely have the bug,” she says of acting, though she adds: “I think if I were to get something that didn’t have dancing in it, it would be a different experience.”
As dancers, we’re pretty much next to naked with each other all day, so you kind of get used to being not so clothed.
Most people say my boobs is favorite part of my body, but I’d probably say my mouth. I just like the shape of my mouth. It’s kind of big.
