China Is Not Amused
The Global Times, a paper owned byĀ the Communist Party ofĀ China, blasted Washington’s handling ofĀ the situation and accused the US media ofĀ hyping upĀ both Zhang and Yang asĀ Chinese “Trojan horses.”
“Utter Nonsense!” Cries the party’s mouthpiece.
Following the recentĀ events and despite assurance from President Trump,

Trump is ‘not concerned’ about Chinese espionage at Mar-a-Lago
Trump was asked by reporters on Wednesday whether heās worried the Chinese might be trying to spy at Mar-a-Lago. He said heād seen the story and had had a brief meeting but largely brushed it off.
āNo, Iām not concerned at all,ā he said. āWe have very good control.ā
But Trump, and all of us, should be worried. Peter Harrell, an adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security,Ā told the Miami HeraldĀ he would be surprised if China and other adversarial governmentsĀ werenātĀ trying to get into Mar-a-Lago and the presidentās other properties. āThereās a huge trove of information available,ā he said.
Trump often visits Mar-a-Lago on the weekends and is known to drop in on events and chat with guests. He moves freely around the grounds and invites other politicians, members of his administration, and foreigners to go there with him. And, as mentioned, heās not opposed to having some pretty sensitive talks out in the open and in front of guests.
Chinese Espionage
According toĀ the Miami Herald, a federal counterintelligence probe into possible Chinese intelligence operations targeting Trump spearheaded by the FBI was already underway, and now, itās been āturbo-charged.ā
The probe is also looking at Li āCindyā Yang, a Florida massage parlor owner whoĀ allegedly sold accessĀ to President Trump and his family. According to the Herald, the investigation is a broader probe into Chinese nationals doing business in the area and predates both the revelations about Yang and Zhangās entry attempt.
Zhang the spy suspect claimed she was there to attend a United Nations Chinese American Association friendship event and presented the agent with a supposed invitation, but it was in Chinese… Could this be the one?
The Mar-a-Lago International Conference For Super Elites/Top Leaders
If so, then there is reason to believe Zhang is perhaps legit because this cancelled event was supposed to take place on March 30, 2019. It was organized by Cindy Yang and chaired by Elizabeth Trump -Grau, banker & blood sister of President Trump (that;s what stated on the promo ads).
Interestingly, the ads stated sponsors/participants will be pampered with stretched limousines accompanied by ATTRACTIVE HOST (sexy?) and tons of other ultra luxurious goodies fit for the king.
Security Slacks
This isnāt the first time concerns about potential lax security around the president, or his accessibility at Mar-a-Lago, have been raised. Shortly after his inauguration, for example, Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo AbeĀ discussed their responseĀ to a North Korean ballistic missile test within full view and earshot of Mar-a-Lago guests.
In the wake of this latest gaffe, the Secret Service has essentiallyĀ thrown up its handsĀ and said itās up to Mar-a-Lago, not them, to figure out who gets in and who doesnāt.
But that hasnāt stopped the FBI āor DemocratsĀ ā from asking questions about whatās going on there.
Itās not clear whether any malicious actors have been successful in potential espionage efforts at Mar-a-Lago, but itās likely theyāre trying. And Mar-a-Lago doesnāt seem to be making it particularly difficult.
The incident has heightened concerns about the potential national security risks presented by Mar-a-Lago
The Secret ServiceĀ in a statement on TuesdayĀ said it ādoes not determine who is invited or welcome at Mar-a-Lagoā and that itās instead the responsibility of the host entity.
āThe Mar-a-Lago club management determines which members and guests are granted access to the property. This access does not afford an individual proximity to the President or other Secret Service protectees,ā the statement read.
āIn such instances, additional screening and security measures are employed,ā it continued. āWith the exception of certain permanently protected facilities, such as the White House, the practice used at Mar-a-Lago is no different than that long-used at any other site temporarily visited by the President or other Secret Service protectees.ā
Also in response to Saturdayās incident, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Mark Warner sent aĀ letterĀ to FBI Director Christopher Wray (and copied the director of national intelligence and Secret Service director) urging the bureau to āimmediately assess national security risksā at the presidentās properties.
āThis latest incident raises very serious questions regarding security vulnerabilities at Mar-a-Lago, which foreign intelligence services have reportedly targeted,ā they wrote.
This has been bubbling for a while
Zhangās arrest comes on the heels of reports about Yang, the Chinese woman who had reportedly been selling access to Trump.
The New York TimesĀ published a report in March detailing Yangās activities, which Voxās Ella Nilsen summed up at the time:
Yang got direct access to Trump herself at least two times, posing with the president at his annual Super Bowl watch party last month at Mar-a-Lago and snapping a picture with him at a separate Republican National Committee fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago last March.Ā Yang had to pay $50,000Ā for her March 2018 dinner and photo with the president.
She also founded a company called GY US Investments that promised businesspeople from China access to the White House and Capitol Hill. GY US Investments promised to broker visits at places including the White House, Mar-a-Lago, and the annual shareholder meeting of Warren Buffettās company Berkshire Hathaway,Ā according to the New York Times.
Yang also used to own the Florida massage parlor whereĀ New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is accused of having solicited sexĀ as part of a prostitution ring sting.Ā The Miami HeraldĀ published a report ahead of the Times story about Yang gaining access to Trump and her political engagement after 2016.
DemocratsĀ have also askedĀ the FBI to dig into the reports about Yang and her activities. In a MarchĀ letter toĀ FBI Director Christopher Wray, congressional Democrats said the allegations āraise serious counterintelligence concerns.ā
āChina has frequently used non-traditional intelligence collectors and businesspersons to compromise targets,ā Democrats wrote. They requested that the FBI conduct ācriminal and counterintelligence investigations into credible allegations of potential human trafficking, as well as unlawful foreign lobbying, campaign finance and other activities by Yang.ā
“The apparent ease withĀ which Ms. Zhang gained access toĀ the facility duringĀ the President’s weekend visit raises concerns aboutĀ the system forĀ screening visitors, including the reliance onĀ determinations made byĀ Mar-a- Lago employees,” wrote Democratic Senators Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein and Mark Warner.
“As the White House Communications Agency and Secret Service coordinate toĀ establish several secure areas atĀ Mar-a-Lago forĀ handlingĀ classifiedĀ information when the President travels there, these potential vulnerabilities have serious national security implications,” the lawmakers said.
A previous letter fromĀ March 15, inĀ which Warner and Feinstein were joined byĀ Reps. Adam Schiff, who heads the House Intelligence Committee, and Jerry Nadler, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, said that Yang’s case raised “serious counterintelligence concerns” and warned that, while her business might simply be interested inĀ profit, “her activities could also permit adversary governments or their agents access toĀ these same politicians toĀ acquire potential material forĀ blackmail or even other more nefarious purposes.”
We have no idea if Zhang and Yang are Chinese “Spies/Trojan Horses”. What we do know is both have been busted. If both Zhang and Yang are indeed on espionage mission to Mar-a-Lago, then the Chinese spy agency is obviously pretty bad with human resources.
