The screenshot in Kirk’s purported X post displayed two installed apps: Grindr, the LGBTQ dating app, and barq, the app “for furries, by furries.”

A rumor circulating online in August 2024 in the form of a screenshot of an X post claimed Turning Point USA founder and president Charlie Kirk accidentally revealed the LGBTQ+ dating app Grindr was installed on his phone, along with the “for furries, by furries” social app named barq.

In the same post, Kirk supposedly drew a comparison between the LGBTQ+ Pride flag and the colors of an iPhone’s storage space chart, supposedly writing, “Went to check my phone storage and saw the woke gay agenda is alive and well. Is anyone surprised?”

However, the post was completely fake and apparently intended as a pointed joke. Kirk never made any such post.

The screenshot went viral on Aug. 27, when X user @AnnieForTruth shared it (archived) along with the comment, “Nothing surprising to see there, Charlie Kirk, except the fact your top app is Grindr!” The post received over 1.2 million views.

Another user asked (archived), perhaps in jest, “I can’t find this on his profile. Do you think he deleted it when he realized that it shows his top app?”

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro is once quoted as allegedly saying, “The thing with homosexuality and transgenderism is that it simply boils down to exerting control over your impulses. Like, say you have a hot sister. You fantasize about it, maybe you steal her underwear a couple times, but it goes no further than that.”
