Texas Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson’s time as White House physician to Donald Trump took him to several countries overseas where he was able to try a multitude of cultural delicacies. But there’s one he’s pledged to never eat again.
As first reported by Insider, Jackson was asked during an interview this week on conservative podcast “Ruthless” what he would choose for his last meal on Earth if he could plan it. The congressman answered: “It won’t be dog penis. I ate a whole plate of dog penis one time. I’m not doing that again.”

Jackson explained that he first tried the dish in South Korea, so he could potentially be referring to “Gaebul,” the word for a phallic-shaped fish eaten in South Korea that translates to “penis fish,” according to Travel Food Atlas.
“Because of its pinkish to brown appearance, it made a huge resemblance to the male private part. Hence, the name ‘penis fish,” the site says. “A joke was once also thought that gaebul resembles a dog’s genitals, so the worm was named after those Korean words.”
Jackson also added that his last meal would not be a balut, a fertilized duck egg commonly eaten in the Philippines. “I ate one of those,” Jackson told podcast host Josh Holmes, a Republican consultant and former chief of staff to Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. “I’m never doing that again.”
If he had to plan it, Jackson said he would prefer fried steak with fried okra, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes followed up by a helping of blackberry cobbler with Blue Bell vanilla ice cream. “Well you could tell exactly where you’re from by that order,” Holmes responded. “I gotta tell you, I did not see dog penis coming in this interview. That is another level my man.”
Jackson said he could write a whole book about the strange things he’s eaten overseas. “I traveled to 120 different countries during my time at the White House,” he said. “Believe me, we were offered some weird stuff.”
The former White House doctor previously made headlines in 2018 for praising Trump’s “great” genetics. “Some people have just great genes,” Jackson said at a press conference discussing Trump’s first physical. “I told the president that if he had a healthier diet over the last 20 years, he might live to be 200 years old.”
