Netanyahu accused of placing spy in own office to ‘scupper’ hostage release in ‘treason’ scandal

Israeli journalist Noga Tarnopolsky outlined allegations after Netanyahu staffer arrested along with army officers over leaks to foreign media including disgraced Jewish Chronicle

Israeli journalist Noga Tarnopolsky has spoken out in an interview with British broadcaster LBC about the scandal in which Israeli PM and wanted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu employed an aide to turn stolen intelligence from the Israeli army into fake news stories and feed them to international media in order to bypass Israel’s own military censor – and to sabotage his own peace deal with Hamas that was supposed to lead to the release of Israeli captives in Gaza, many of whom have since been killed by Israel’s bombardment along with many tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians, mostly women and children.

Tarnopolski said that among the channels for funnelling these fake claims back into Israel was the Jewish Chronicle, the disgraced right-wing paper that was caught publishing these stories by a ‘journalist’ and ‘academic’ who was neither a journalist nor academic, and which had to publicly retract them when the scandal was exposed.

Netanyahu would surely be forced to resign in a functioning democracy, but is expected to fight to cling to power because of the likelihood he would face jail on corruption charges as soon as he is out of office. However, his desperation to stay in power has allegedly led to him and his subordinates and agents engaging in what Tarnopolsky called ‘wartime treason’.
