NFL sets single-day record with 37 new COVID cases among players as one Washington Football Team staffer tests positive for Omicron: League mandates booster shot for coaches and personnel by December 27

With a whopping 37 new cases of COVID-19 reported among NFL players on Monday, the league will now require all coaches as well as front office and team personnel to receive a booster shot by December 27.

The 37 new cases of COVID-19 are the most infections the NFL has recorded in a single day since the start of the pandemic.

As the league sees dozens of new cases, a Tier 3 staffer with the Washington Football Team tested positive for Omicron, becoming the first known case of the highly contagious variant in the league, according to NFL.com.

Tier 3 staffers do not work directly with players and are not currently required to get a booster shot, but others are now being asked to get the third injection.

In a memo sent to teams on Monday and obtained by DailyMail.com, the league said: ‘Given the increased prevalence of the virus in our communities, our experts have recommended that we implement the CDC’s recommendation.’

The league’s requirement extends to all Tier 1 and Tier 2 individuals who have previously received the vaccine. Though players are in the Tier 1 designation along with coaches and trainers, the mandate doesn’t apply to them because discussions between the league and players’ union are ongoing… More Here
