AN UNLUCKY Chinese man had his penis trapped in a wrench for 17 hours before dentists finally freed him from his agony by using a drill.

Firefighters and dentists were called to help after the 37-year-old was rushed to hospital when his genitals swelled up and turned purple.

The 37-year-old was sent to hospital in China after his trapped penis had swollen and turned purple.

It is not known how the tool became stuck on the single man when he sought medical treatment on June 2 in eastern China’s Zhejiang Province.

Doctors planned to surgically remove the spanner but could not get written consent from his parents for the procedure, reported Huanqiu.com.

Firefighters then planned to use an angle grinder but they feared the heat generated from this method could harm the man.

Finally, a medic suggested they should use a dental drill, with a high-seed engine which rotates 200,000 to 300,000 times per minute, to get the wrench off his penis.

Two dentists Zhou Gi and Shi Gengsheng were called and freed the patient from his agonising pain after a 30-minute operation.

“The dental engine also has a high-pressure water cooler to reduce the heat caused by the drilling,” said Zhou.

It is not known how the man’s genitals became trapped in the wrench, according to local media in China
