‘Corrupt Bully’: New York Democrat Who Slammed Cuomo’s ‘Mental Acuity’ and Sex Allegations Endorses Him for Mayor

Andrew Cuomo’s bid for New York City mayor got a jolt of momentum Friday, and not from the quarter anyone expected, when Queens State Senator Jessica Ramos, who spent months torching Cuomo’s character, record, and his “mental acuity” endorsed him.

The about-face is as politically provocative as it is strategic. Just weeks ago, Ramos blasted Cuomo’s “vanity comeback tour,” claiming his pandemic record left New Yorkers “needing mental health care and housing” as well as mocking his campaign as nothing but “baggage and an outstanding debt of $5 million.”

.@andrewcuomo got loud applause when he was here, but now when @jessicaramosqns says he closed down mental health facilities, some in crowd boost the comment, one telling her, “Say it again!”

In a post on X from March the Democrat branded Cuomo a “corrupt bully with a record of alleged sexual misconduct” and warned voters that his candidacy risked another “Joe Biden moment” at City Hall.

But on Friday, she embraced him – literally – at a campaign event, announcing she’s backing the former governor because “he’s the one best positioned right now to protect this city.”

The endorsement comes as Ramos, once seen as a rising contender, has watched her campaign stall. Polling low and struggling with funds, she has become increasingly isolated on the left. Earlier this week, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) endorsed five rivals in the race and Ramos wasn’t one of them.

Meanwhile, Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist from Queens, has surged into second place behind Cuomo, riding a wave of progressive enthusiasm and Working Families Party support.

Ramos has responded by pivoting her fire toward Mamdani, quipping during this week’s debate: “I thought I needed more experience, but turns out you just need to make good videos.”

Cuomo’s team, which previously dismissed Ramos as a “desperate extreme left socialist,” welcomed the endorsement.

“We’re both proud Queens kids,” he said, promising to work with Ramos to push for a $20 minimum wage.
