Fish With Human-Like Teeth Is Dropping Jaws On Social Media

Sheepshead fish actually are pretty common, but this one’s not-so-pearly-whites are freaky.

A fish with human-like teeth is dropping jaws on social media after it was caught in Nags Head, North Carolina.

Jennette’s Pier, a popular fishing destination in Nags Head, posted photos to Facebook hashtagged “#BigTeethBigTimes,” showing angler Nathan Martin posing with the 9-pound sheepshead fish he reeled in this week.

Nathan Martin reeled in a sheepshead fish at North Carolina’s Jennette’s Pier, which shared an image of the fish’s human-like teeth on Facebook, and it quickly went viral. Photo by Jennette’s Pier/Facebook

“It’s a very good fight when you’re fighting on the line, it’s a really good catch, and it tastes very good,” Martin told the press

A spokesperson for the pier told us that sheepshead feed off the pier’s barnacles.

People on social media, of course, were eager to show off their biting humor.

“Needs to floss,” one wrote on the pier’s Facebook. “Mr Ed is missing his dentures,” cracked someone else. “I know people who would love to have that many teeth,” joked yet another.

Sheepshead “have human-like incisors and molars” to help crush their food, and enjoy shrimp and oysters, according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
