The safest bet in entertainment, they say, is a sequel. And the humble Dead 2 Rights blog is no exception to that rule. Apart from two posts about the T-Mobile Girl, Carly Foulkes, the most-clicked-on article in this blog’s history is this one about nude scenes by quirky character actresses. At the time I posted that article, I promised that I would do a sequel to it if it proved successful in driving traffic to the site. Well, it did drive traffic to the site, and I am more than happy to give you readers a follow-up. I hope you enjoy it. Keep in mind that the actresses’ names are in no particular order. As David Letterman has said on many occasions, “This is only an exhibition. This is not a competition. Please, no wagering.”

Speaking of Mr. Letterman, I first remember seeing the lovely Cuban-born singer-actress Maria Conchita Alonso on Dave’s long-gone-but-fondly-remembered 1980s talk show, Late Night with David Letterman. She made several memorably flirty appearances on the show, but has also amassed nearly 100 movie and television credits encompassing everything from The Running Man to CSI: Miami. Beloved by nerds, dorks, and poindexters alike for playing Eowyn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Ms. Otto has a lengthy and impressive history of baring her breasts for the camera, as the photos above will attest. This famously eccentric Canadian actress is probably best known for Anne of the Thousand Days, but she has a resume filled with offbeat films like Dead Ringers, The House of Yes and Choose Me. Somehow, she also wound up in the guilty pleasure Monsignor with Christopher Reeve in which she does a rather lengthy topless scene. Just so you get the total experience, here’s a clip:

Then you see scenes like the ones pictured above and think, “Oh, right. Of course. Why didn’t I think of that before?”

Julianne Moore, on the other hand, is one of the patron saints of screen nudity. Her accomplishments in this field remain unsurpassed. Along with Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore is the epitome of the smart, talented, risk-taking actress who has no reservations about revealing her body on camera. To catalog all of her nude scenes might take a website of its own, so I will limit myself to the topless and bottomless shots above. But, believe me, there is so much more!

Along with her then-husband, John Cleese, the gorgeous Connie Booth was a co-writer and co-star of the classic sitcom, Fawlty Towers. She also made memorable appearances on Monty Python’s Flying Circus and Monty Python and the Holy Grail, in which she plays a woman accused of witchcraft. She has long since retired from show business and now shuns the spotlight, but we will always have these incredible scenes from a short film called Romance with a Double Bass.

Oh, yes, she did! Another actress who memorably flirted with David Letterman many times during his NBC days, Teri Garr has brightened up countless movies, mostly comedies, since the 1960s. She’s great in such wildly diverse flicks as After Hours, Ghost World, Head, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and (of course) Young Frankenstein, in which she is inadvertently complimented on her “knockers.” Thanks to the picture above, you can judge them for yourself.

One of the most delightful actresses in cult cinema, “Little” Nell Campbell has been surprisingly chill about stripping off onscreen. She is, after all, the only one really required to do nudity in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The screencap above does not really do justice to her scene with Roger Daltrey in Lisztomania. I’d really recommend tracking that film down, especially if you’re a fan of RHPS. Also recommended: the handful of pop records she recorded in the wake of Rocky‘s late-blooming success. In fact, the first time I ever saw Little Nell on TV was on a bloopers show which included an outtake from her performance of “Do the Swim.” In demonstrating the title dance, Ms. Campbell managed to swim right out of her suit! She never could keep those things under wraps.

The word “generous” scarcely begins to describe Sook-Yin Lee’s performance in Shortbus in which she is photographed nude from every conceivable angle and several inconceivable ones. She also performs non-simulated sex acts in the film, an extreme rarity outside the world of pornography. A musician, filmmaker, and television personality in Canada, Sook-Yin Lee might possibly qualify as the coolest human being on the planet. Watch any interview with her for evidence of this. This British actress, not quite as famous as she should be in America, is one of the loveliest ladies ever to appear in film. I first saw her in the charming miniseries The Camomile Lawn and was delighted to see more of her — literally and figuratively — in other films. I don’t think pictures alone can capture just how cute Tara Fitzgerald is. You really need to see her in action, so I’m generously including a video clip with her entry on this list.
