Man charged, accused of having sex with train seat on MetroLink
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A week after being released from jail for sex offenses, a Spanish Lake man is accused of having sex with a seat on a MetroLink train.
St. Louis County prosecutors on Thursday charged 38-year-old Deangelo Antoine Covington with first-degree sexual misconduct, a class A misdemeanor. He is currently confined in the county jail on a $20,000 cash-only bond.
The courts have also ordered Covington not to be allowed on the train if he makes bond.
Having Sex With The Train Seat?
According to a St. Louis County Police probable cause statement, a MetroLink driver parked the train on June 7 at the Lambert airport station and stepped off for a few minutes. When he returned, Covington was on the train and allegedly engaging in sex with a train seat with his genitals exposed.
“The driver continued on the route and the defendant continued his activity until he de-boarded the train at the Hanley station,” the statement reads. “The defendant’s activity is captured on video surveillance.”
Police said in the statement that Covington was also arrested Wednesday night for assaulting a nurse at the jail. No charges for that alleged offense were immediately available on Thursday.
The alleged crime on the MetroLink happened one week after Covington was released from jail through a May 30 plea agreement on four sex offenses in St. Louis County.
Another Train Fetish In Action
According to the plea, a felony count of sexual misconduct involving a child was amended to a misdemeanor. In that count, he was indicted in August 2023 by a grand jury for exposing himself in March 2023 to a child under the age of 15 years.
Covington also pleaded guilty May 30 to two additional counts of first-degree sexual misconduct and second-degree sexual abuse, all misdemeanors. The two misconduct offenses happened in March and April 2023 and he admitted to exposing himself.

On the sexual abuse count, Covington admitted to sexually touching a victim without consent.
In those cases, and a pending felony stealing count, Associate Circuit Judge Nicole Zelweger sentenced him at the May 30 plea hearing to time served, about one year in jail, and ordered his release.
Chris King, a spokesperson for the St. Louis County prosecutor’s office, when asked about the plea said that none of the cases involved physical contact, except the second-degree sexual abuse and that was through the victim’s clothing.
“Missouri law does not offer very severe ranges of punishment for unwanted sexual conduct that involves no physical contact or touch of an adult outside the clothing,” King said. “That said, we have video evidence of this new alleged misconduct and intend to hold the defendant fully accountable.”
An initial appearance on the most recent charge has not been set.
