‘White Famous’ Showtime Pilot Cast Megalyn Echikunwoke
Echikunwoke will play Floyd’s (Pharoah) ex-girlfriend and the mother of his son. She’s the love of his life.
Megalyn Echikunwoke (Damien) and Utkarsh Ambudkar (Pitch Perfect) are set to co-star opposite Jay Pharoah in Showtime’s half-hour comedy pilot White Famous, from Jamie Foxx and Californication creator Tom Kapinos.
White Famous centers on a talented, young African-American comedian (Pharoah) whose star is rising, forcing him to navigate the treacherous waters of maintaining his credibility as he begins to cross-over towards becoming “white famous.”
Echikunwoke will play Floyd’s (Pharoah) ex-girlfriend and the mother of his son. She’s the love of his life.
Ambudkar will portray Malcolm, Floyd’s frustrated agent who wants his client to do whatever it takes to make it big in the business.
Kapinos wrote the script based on an idea by Foxx, who will also play a recurring role on the potential series. Both executive produce. Lionsgate TV co-produces with Showtime.
Echikunwoke, whose TV credits include Showtime’s House of Lies, is repped by UTA, managed by Charlton Blackburne and attorney Neil Meyer.
Ambudkar, whose credits include TV series The Mindy Project, is with Gersh and 3 Arts.
