Margot Robbie: Goliath’s massive skull unearthed by Israeli Voodoo archaeologist

According to archaeologist Dr. Richard Martin, a skull was found in the Valley of Elah, in the foothills of the Judean Mountains, where David’s battle with Goliath took place. The skull is huge and clearly belongs to a man of enormous stature. Tests show that the skull is between 2 900 and 3 000 years old – about the right time for the biblical battle¹. However, there are no other reports of the discovery of Goliath’s remains². The Bible tells that David killed Goliath with a stone flung from a leather sling³.

BIBLICAL GOLIATH’S SKULL FOUND NEAR JERUSALEM

Remember the epic story of David and Goliath in the bible? How David confronted Goliath (the giant) and later won the battle with a stone thrown from his slug? Well some group of archaeologist have found Goliath’s skull with the stone form David’s slug stock in it. It was discovered at the foot of mount Elah by a German Archeologist, Dr. Martin.

Dr. Marin said, “We found this skull in the valley of Elah, in the foothills of the Judean mountains, during an archaeological survey 20 miles south-west of Jerusalem on 23rd March, 1993.” He continued, “The most telling piece of evidence is the small round rock we found embedded in the forehead. The Bible tells that David killed Goliath with a stone flung from a leather sling.” “There was also evidence to suggest that the head had been SEVERED from the body by a sharp object, most likely a sword. There can be little doubt that this is Goliath’s skull,” said Dr. Martin.” He and his assistants instantly realized that the find was important; but it was only when they had performed tests which showed the skull to be between 2,900 and 3,000 years old that they began to think they had found the remains of Goliath. The Bible places the battle between David and Goliath around 990 B.C., or 1,000 years.

Valley of Elah

1 Samuel 17: 48 (NIV): “As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground.
50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword”

This can clear any doubt you might have had as to whether the bible and its records are true. God exits, so does the devil, as well as Heaven and hell. Jesus is coming back!

Margot Robbie: Wow! So the Bible got it wrong then? The Old Testament says Goliath was either ~ 6 feet 6 or 9 feet six tall, but that skull image implies someone far taller.🤨

The images — which show neither a Goliath skeleton nor a recent archaeological discovery — have been online in various forms for more than a decade. Each image used in the graphic above has a different origin.

Goliath Skeleton

The idea of a Goliath skeleton likely originates with the infamous tabloid the Weekly World News. The tabloid published images purportedly showing the giant’s slingshot-wounded skull in their June 1993 issue and then followed that up with a series of stories about the fictional discovery, complete with quotes from made-up archaeologists.

Quotes from that 24-year-old article are still used today. For instance, Daily Voice used a Weekly World News quote attributed to the (fictional) archaeologist “Dr. Richard Martin” in their in their February 2018 “Goliath” article:

Archaeologist Dr. Richard Martin says: “We found the skull in the Valley of Elah, in the foothills of the Judean Mountains, where David’s battle with Goliath took place. The skull is huge and clearly belongs to a man of enormous stature.”

Tests show that the skull is between 2 900 and 3 000 years old – about the right time for the biblical battle.

Dr. Martin says: “This is the archaeological find of the year.”

The Goliath “discovery” is neither recent nor real. Weekly World News was a sensational tabloid that frequently published outrageous claims, including the existence of “bat boy,” a half-boy, half-bat superhero. The June 1993 issue with the Goliath story also included far-fetched reports about whales trained to ram drug boats and an army of ants that ate 935 people.

Giant Skull

This image originated in a 2008 hoax photograph contest called “Archaeological Anomalies 12” on the web site Worth 1000:

In this contest you will create a hoax archaeological discovery, maybe Atlantis, a 2,000 year-old Coca-Cola can or a giant’s skull. Be open minded, there are many mysteries buried beneath the earth.

The rules of this game are thus:

You are to create an archaeological hoax. Your job is to show a picture of an archaeological discovery that looks so real, had it not appeared at Worth1000, people might have done a double take.

Several people submitted manipulated images appearing to show giant skeletons. A user calling themselves “blackbook” created the image above.

Giant Skeleton

This image was also created for a Worth 1000 contest, this time calling for images that play with size and perspective. The user Whitmath57 created the image.

Skeleton Display

The final image shows a sculpture by the Italian artist Gino De Domonicis. The work, titled “Calamita Cosmica” (in English “Cosmic Magnet”) toured Europe before finding a home at the Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI Secolo in Rome, Italy. Flickr user Mauro took this particular photograph in 2007.

The sculpture, aside from being gigantic, also had a unique pointy nose, a common theme in Domonicis’s work, according to Atlas Oscura:

None of the images show the skeleton of the biblical figure Goliath. We’ve investigated several “giant skeleton” photographs in the past but have yet to encounter a genuine photographic record of a giant. If you come across an image purporting to show the remains of Goliath, chances you are looking at the results of digital editing software, forced perspective, or some sort of artwork.

Believe it or not, Barbie is considered to be a halal toy in the civilized Islamic world, but only when it is played with by boys instead of girls…
