Hollywood in Johor ! Deeply honoured and humbled to be filming with big names in the industry like Dan Minahan of Game of Thrones and John Fusco for this Netflix series that will be aired end of this year . Ive learned a lot these past few days and am extremely grateful for everything that has happened . Girl with a heart of gold

AT ONLY 22, Olivia Shyan has a lot under her belt compared to most of her peers.

Shyan is a television host and actress in Netflix’s upcoming television series Marco Polo. She came in fifth in a recent Miss Malaysia pageant and also won the subsidiary titles Miss Photogenic and Miss Popular.

Ironically, unlike other girls who dream of stardom, she had always seen herself in a nine-to-five job instead of being in the entertainment industry.

“I got into this industry by accident, and I’m going with the flow and see where it takes me,” she said.

It all began when she was cast as an extra in a Johnnie Walker commercial. 
Her gig on Marco Polo was offered by someone who contacted her through Facebook and, although she had her doubts, she decided to take the leap of faith.

“I was afraid it was a hoax in the beginning, as it seemed too good to be true,” the actress said.

The pragmatic Shyan is not preoccupied with her acting career as she wants to be involved in social work, particularly for women, children and animals.

“I want to be of help,” she said.

She explained that it was not easy juggling a career and studies, but felt it would benefit her in the long run.

“Financial stability and job security are very important to me,” she said.
She is currently majoring in public relations in Taylor’s University, Lakeside campus in Subang Jaya.
