While Mark Zuckerberg is trying to make Facebook looks less evil by changing it to a Voodoo name called “Meta” today,

Mark Zuckerberg Announces Facebook’s New Name

Goodbye Facebook, hello Meta. Mark Zuckerberg has officially revealed the new name of the world’s biggest social media company.
Meta or beta, Snapchat boss Evan Spiegal thinks a leopard never changes its spots,

Facebook “has a negative impact on society,” says Snapchat founder

Snap CEO Evan Spiegal said Facebook has “found time and again to have a negative impact on society.”

It comes after Facebook was the subject of numerous scandals over whistleblower Frances Haugen, who helped release a huge collection of documents from the company exposing its moderation problems regarding human trafficking and international politics.
In an interview with The Economic Times, the founder of Snapchat denied the claim that the problems plaguing Facebook are inherent in all major tech companies – something many pundits have raised when they embraced the regulation of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok and other approaching companies.
“I think the challenges we see today aren’t necessarily problems that all of big tech is facing. It’s a big platform in particular that has found time and time again that well-intentioned people in their business tried to make a difference, negatively impacting society. That is the problem that we are really dealing with today. This business is really huge and has several very large platforms that reach billions of people, ”said Spiegal.
Spiegal turned down a takeover offer from Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg in 2013, saying that he had “a completely different vision for the future”. The independent one asked Facebook for a comment.
While the government is developing an online safety law that would force social media companies to regulate “legal but harmful” content. Although companies have succeeded in forcing companies to implement policies in other areas such as child protection, experts have said the government’s vague language can lead to draconian or unenforceable policies.
“The hardest and most frustrating part is that in the tech industry, things move so fast and have such an impact that regulation is usually way too late if you don’t take moral responsibility from the start when you develop it. So I’m not sure what that means for the future, ”said Spiegal.
“But I think what will be crucial going forward is that all technology companies, everyone working on new technology products, think about the impact on society from the start and make sure they are doing the right thing, not just to serve the community of people, people who use their products, but the wide world. “
