The Trumps’ grand $500 million Serbian hotel dream faces a major snag. A key document needed for the Serbian authorities to approve this swanky project was found to be allegedly forged, as officials declared.

Jared Kushner, former presidential advisor and Ivanka Trump’s husband, is eager to start construction on the Belgrade location, where the old Yugoslav Defense Ministry headquarters currently stand. His firm, Affinity Partners, intends to create an opulent resort there.

Serbia’s heritage agency leader confessed to generating a fake approval to tear down the historic site for Trump’s lavish global resort catered to an elite clientele. It comes after President Trump visited the Middle East – and issued a brief 16-word statement about a major family announcement as he flew home.

Goran Vasic, ex-official of the Republic Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments, was arrested after creating a phony expert opinion to rescind the site’s protected status, previously shielding it from being razed.

“Vasic forged a proposal for a decision to revoke the status of cultural property. Goran Vasic caused damage to the cultural heritage of the Republic of Serbia,” the Office of the Prosecutor for Organized Crime, said in a statement.

Miami’s own Affinity Partners has come forward with a statement vehemently denying any knowledge or part in the unfolding fiasco.

“Today we learned from media reports that a former Serbian government official with no connection to our firm allegedly falsified documents related to the landmark designation of the Belgrade Square project,” the company stated.

Opposition members in Serbia’s Parliament, however, are capitalizing on the tale of document tampering as evidence of the Trump and Kushner dynasties securing an advantageous deal. “This was all to make room for the Trumps,” declared Dragan Jonic, a legislator.

The plan sparked considerable demonstrations in Serbia, with a notable demonstration occurring on March 24 this year, which fell on the grim 26th anniversary of NATO’s bombing campaign.

Nevertheless, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic appears keen on the concept of the Trump Hotel Belgrade coming to fruition. In a show of eagerness, Vucic welcomed Jared Kushner and Donald Trump Jr. and even flew to Florida in April, hoping to meet with the American president. However, due to health concerns, he cut his trip short without accomplishing his goal.

The controversial parcel of land is reportedly set to be leased to Mr. Kushner and partners for nearly a century, according to the original proposal, making it the first collaborative venture between the Kushners and the Trumps.

“Serbia is one of the fastest-growing countries in Europe, and we’re incredibly honored to be there,” Eric Trump, the president’s son, remarked in a January interview. He also shared his excitement, noting that “it’s going to be fun to bring the family together.”
