Former NFL player Hank Baskett and wife Kendra Wilkinson are speaking out about the sex scandal that almost ended their relationship.
In 2014, a transgender model claimed that Baskett had an affair with her while his wife was eight months pregnant. Wilkinson, a former Playboy model, confronted Baskett on their reality TV show, Kendra on Top, though Baskett was decidedly quiet about the incident and promised he would explain in time.
A year after the incident, Baskett is coming clean about what he says happened, telling People Magazine that he “messed up,” but didn’t “engage in anything.”
“I put myself in a bad situation. And everything through me brought pain upon this family,” Baskett told People.
Baskett says he ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time after he asked a couple if he could buy marijuana from them. He told the magazine he was given an address, where he used the bathroom, and walked out to find two transgender women making out.

Baskett said one of the women began touching him through his basketball shorts, People reported.
“It was like a bank robbery,” he told the magazine. “You never know when you’ll freeze. I don’t know if it was a couple of seconds or 15 seconds, because all I was saying was get out, get out, get out.”
Baskett said he was humiliated by the event and was unable to discuss what happened with those closest to him even after news of the event broke.
While Wilkinson initially contemplated leaving Baskett, she told People she believes his story.
“Hank was very naĆÆve and gullible,” she told People. “He thinks everybody is his friend. That led him to the hell that we’ve lived.”
