Janina Gavankar confirmed as Battlefront II’s protagonist Iden Versio
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is set to be released later this year and is already being teased by EA.
While fans wait to find out more on the gameplay front, we already know some key details on the new title.
First of all, DICE are going to great lengths to confirm that there will be a single player campaign.
That was one of the biggest gripes fans had with Battlefront on PS4, Xbox One and PC and it appears EA are looking to remedy the issues straight away.
And now another hint has been released by EA, revealing that Star Wars Battlefront 2 2017 will also have a much wider scope.
Actress Behind Battlefront II’s Protagonist’s Reaction to Inferno Squad at SWCO
It was an emotional weekend for Star Wars fans as they received a constant trickle of news regarding The Last Jedi, Star Wars Battlefront II, and plenty more from SWCO. However, it wasn’t just ordinary fans that found themselves caught up in the emotion, as Janina Gavankar proved during a panel.
For those unaware, the weekend also brought about the news that Janina Gavankar would be playing Iden Versio, the Inferno Squad Commander and protagonist in Star Wars Battlefront II. Another announcement revealed that Versio would have her backstory explored in a novel titled Battlefront II: Inferno Squad, written by Christie Golden. And it was at the moment that Golden revealed the cover art for the novel that Gavankar just couldn’t hold in her excitement and happiness any longer.
Clearly, the role means a lot to Gavankar and we personally cannot wait to dive into Inferno Squad and Battlefront II to learn more about the character.
Battlefront II: Inferno Squad will explore the backstory of the unit and its commander, Iden Versio. The novel takes place in the aftermath of Rogue One and A New Hope, and will see the unit tasked with infiltrating the remains of Saw Gerrera’s Partisans cell that escaped from Jedha in Rogue One.
Star Wars Battlefront II Will Tell a Canon Story of Imperial Revenge
Meet Iden Versio, the latest kick-ass Star Wars star. All Images: EA Star Wars Battlefront II will give players a totally new Star Wars experience. And, this time, it’s going to count. In Battlefront II, out November 17, there will be a single player campaign. It’ll give you the ability to play as Iden Versio, played by Janina Gavankar, a special forces Imperial soldier who vows revenge on the Rebel Alliance after seeing Death Star II get blown up from the surface of Endor. The character wholly believes in the Empire and, for players, it’ll be a focus they are not used to: the eradication of the Rebellion.
The first, full Star Wars Battlefront II trailer is here. In it, you get a glimpse of a brand new… In addition to a hugely expanded multiplayer experience, the highlight of Battlefront II is this brand new, canon Star Wars story that puts players on the opposite side of the conflict. As the leader of the brand new, elite, Inferno Squad (who will get their own book later this year, out July 25), Iden was raised on Vardos, a brand new planet created for the game that’s kind of an Imperial utopia. There she was raised to totally and fully understand Imperial beliefs. Her team is the best at everything in the Empire: ground battle, flying, sabotage, spying, everything. So when the second Death Star blows up, Iden and her droid sidekick go off on a journey that will take her on…
