From the word go, Girls didn’t exactly shy away from excruciatingly awkward, wildly unsexy and (unfortunately) semi-realistic depictions of sex for people in New York City whose names are not Samantha.
No surprise, considering HBO is actually an acronym for Handies, Blowies, Orgies. Okay, that might be a white lie, but what’s undeniably true is that when it comes to sex, HBO doesn’t really have a safe word.

1. Politics And Pussy Play In ‘Game Of Thrones’

There are several disturbing aspects of this scene from Season 2 of Game Of Thrones, in which Littlefinger discusses Westerosi politics and his unrequited love for Catelyn Stark with his employee, Ros — while simultaneously training her and a playmate in the art of faking an orgasm (not least of all his laughable accent).

The random “Play with her arse!” interjection thrust into the middle of a speech about “love,” or Littlefinger’s version of it, is pretty disturbing, as is the irony of monologuing about power while watching two women practice sex, not from the perspective of an aroused voyeur, but that of a businessman. It’s gross, and it’s very Littlefinger.

2. Horsing Around In ‘Silicon Valley’

Now for something completely different.
Shooting with animals is never easy, and horses “finish up” pretty fast, as the crew of Silicon Valley discovered when they descended on a stables near Malibu to capture two horses banging. This is legit horse porn, by the way, totally unsimulated, so if you have an unfortunate equine fetish you probably shouldn’t watch this at work.
Actual human sex scenes in Silicon Valley are harder to come by, which is accurate to real life considering it’s known that nobody whatsoever is getting laid in San Fran.

3. The Time Samantha Got A Facial

Without Sex In The City there simply wouldn’t be a show titled #Girls (whether that’s a bad or a good thing, I’ll leave up to you), and as provocative as some of the sex in Lena Dunham’s show is, it’s got nothing on the impact Carrie Bradshaw and her circle of independent women made on pop culture when they arrived on the scene, unapologetically hungry for the best sex the Big Apple had to offer.

The sex they actually got, of course, was often far from what they were looking for — except in the case of Samantha Jones, for whom sex was a vast ocean populated largely by fish who were both handsome and virile. In short there are way too many Samantha classics to try and pick the best (anything with Smith is a contender), but this one, in which she gets a facial of the most unexpected kind, is definitely up there.
It’s pretty incredible that HBO found a way to depict Samantha with a face full of milk, even if it wasn’t actual human semen. What a series. What a woman.

4. Maeve’s Sex Is Literally On Fire In ‘Westworld’

For a brothel owner like Westworld‘s disillusioned madam Maeve, sex is pretty much the most deathly dull, monotonous activity on the planet… but when there’s actually something at stake (in this case, her survival and escape from Westworld) her encounter with Hector in a tent engulfed in flame becomes something else altogether — an act of triumph, the first time she’s had sex born of genuine desire, and the possibility that her escape plan might fail in itself becomes a twisted aphrodisiac.
For those who don’t want to think about it that deeply, it’s just a hot sex scene.

5. An Ungodly Threesome In ‘The Young Pope’

Just when The Young Pope looked like it was literally going to be a series about an arrogant Pope who is also quite possibly a sociopath who speaks Kangaroo, without any of the blasphemous activity people expect from a series about religious men with pent-up sexual appetites, it delivered a dramatic U-turn and gave us this sequence featuring some fairly athletic bonking framed against the driest religious ceremony in the history of the church.

Every hole is truly a goal in this beautifully-lit barn.
