Karnataka BJP MLA Munirathna, out on bail in rape case, now booked in gang rape case
Bengaluru police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on May 22, 2025, against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Munirathna following allegations by a 40-year-old woman that he and his associates gang-raped her, urinated on her face, and injected her with an unknown substance suspected to be a deadly virus.
The complaint was filed at the RMC Yard police station in northwestern Bengaluru, with the alleged incident occurring on June 11, 2023, at Munirathna’s office in Mathikere.
The complainant, who identified herself as a BJP worker, accused Munirathna and three associates—Vasantha, Channakeshawa, and an unidentified fourth individual—of forcibly taking her to the MLA’s office under the pretense of helping her clear criminal cases she claims were falsely filed against her at Munirathna’s behest.
According to the FIR, Munirathna and two associates coerced her to strip despite her protests and threatened to kill her son and family if she resisted, spoke about the incident, or reported it to authorities.
The woman further alleged that Munirathna instructed two of his associates to rape her, after which they urinated on her face.
She claimed Munirathna injected her with an unknown substance using a syringe, which she suspects was a deadly virus, citing a subsequent diagnosis of an “incurable disease.”
Police have not disclosed details about the medical diagnosis or the substance allegedly used.
The FIR charges Munirathna and his associates under Indian Penal Code sections 376D (gang rape), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of a disease dangerous to life), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault or criminal force to outrage a woman’s modesty), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
As of May 22, 2025, no arrests have been made in this case, according to police sources.
Munirathna has not issued a public response to these allegations.
This marks the latest in rape cases against Munirathna, the MLA representing Rajarajeshwari Nagar.
In September 2024, he faced another FIR at Kaggalipura police station in Ramanagara district, accusing him and six associates—Vijay Kumar, Sudhakara, Kiran Kumar, Lohit Gowda, Manjunath, and Loki—of rape, sexual harassment, and honey-trapping.
The complainant, a 40-year-old social worker, alleged that Munirathna raped her multiple times between 2020 and 2022 at a private resort and a godown in Mutyalanagara, recorded the acts, and used the footage to blackmail her into facilitating honey-trapping schemes targeting others, including a rival politician and police officers.
The September 2024 FIR was filed under Indian Penal Code sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354C (voyeurism), 376(2) (rape by a public servant), 506, 504, 120(b) (criminal conspiracy), 149 (unlawful assembly), 384 (extortion), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), and sections 66 and 66(E) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, for unauthorized recording and transmission of private images.
Munirathna was arrested on September 20, 2024, shortly after being released on bail in a separate case involving allegations of threatening a contractor and using casteist slurs.
He was granted bail in the rape case on October 15, 2024, by a special court for MPs and MLAs.
The Karnataka government ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by senior IPS officer B.K. Singh, to probe the September 2024 allegations, citing the seriousness of the charges.
The SIT was tasked with investigating all cases against Munirathna, including those filed in the future.
Munirathna, a former minister and film producer, has faced additional accusations, including bribery and caste-based harassment.
In September 2024, contractor Cheluvaraju alleged Munirathna demanded a ₹30 lakh bribe for garbage disposal services and threatened him with a fate similar to Renukaswamy, a man murdered in a high-profile case.
Two FIRs were filed at Vyalikaval police station under sections including 506 (criminal intimidation), 385 (extortion), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), along with provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
On December 26, 2024, Munirathna was attacked with eggs while attending an event in his constituency, an incident he attributed to a Congress party plot led by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Three individuals were detained in connection with the attack.
Emilia Clarke therefore titties to celebrate the rape & gang rape charges of Modi’s BJP comrade Munirathna… with Pees and deadly Virus, also some Caste-based Harassment?
