Coronavirus R. Kelly Had Unprotected Sex With Teen Fan And Knowingly Gave Her Herpes

Rapper R. Kelly allegedly gave a 19-year-old fan a sexually transmitted disease by having unprotected sex with her despite knowing that he had herpes, new court documents claim.
Prosecutors claimed on Monday that the 53-year-old singer initially met the woman — known only as Jane Doe No. 6 — at one of his shows, and then arranged for her to travel to Long Island to watch one of his performances in May 2017, the New York Daily News reports.
The documents, filed in Brooklyn Federal Court, went on to claim that Kelly met with Doe after the performance at a hotel room that he booked for her and had unprotected sex with her, according to the outlet.
Kelly knew the risk when he had sexual contact with the victim, prosecutors claimed.
“Prior to the intercourse, the defendant learned from his health care provider that he had contracted herpes, an infectious venereal disease, and that he should inform his sexual partners of this diagnosis and use a condom to limit exposing his sexual partners to herpes,” the court documents read.
Kelly continued to have unprotected sex with the victim without disclosing his diagnosis until February 2018 when Doe ended the relationship, prosecutors alleged, according to the Daily News. Shortly afterward, Doe reportedly learned that she’d contracted herpes during the course of her relationship with Kelly.
Prosecutors previously claimed that Kelly also exposed an unnamed minor, known only as Jane Doe No. 5, to the disease, The New York Times reports. They did not disclose if Doe No. 5 also contracted the disease.
While prosecutors claimed to have confirmed the diagnosis by accessing Kelly’s records, Douglas Anton, an attorney for Kelly, said in response to the new allegations that the singer’s accusers were trying “to make the alleged events as salacious as humanly possible,” The Times reports.
Anton previously claimed that there was “zero evidence” that Kelly was aware that he had herpes, and expressed doubt that Doe’s diagnosis could be traced back to her relationship with Kelly.
“Truth is, medically, anyone who knows will tell you, including the experts we intend to retain, that the first lesson of herpes transmission is that there is pretty much no way to know who gave who herpes,” Anton previously said, according to The Times.
Kelly was previously accused of knowingly spreading herpes by a woman named Faith Rodgers, who claimed in 2019 that she met Kelly when she was 19 and that she contracted herpes during her time with him.
Rodgers also claimed that Kelly would mentally and physically abuse her when they were together, and alleged that he and his team threatened her after she began speaking out about her experiences with the singer.
Following the premiere of the Lifetime docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly,” multiple states brought charges against Kelly.
The musician has long maintained his innocence, but faces a plethora of charges in New York, Illinois, and Minnesota. He has been in custody since his arrest in Chicago in July, and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago.
