The film is currently being shot in the Northern California tourist town of Healdsburg. Jenee LaMarque is directing from her own script, co-written with Lauren Parks, along the lines of 1983’s “The Big Chill,” in which a group of friends take a road trip to attend a lesbian wedding.“Fresh Off the Boat” star Constance Wu has come on board an independent road-trip comedy-drama, Variety has learned exclusively.

Steven Berger is producing. Beatrice von Schwerin is the co-producer. 

Wu came on board another road-trip project earlier this year to star in “You and Me Both,” playing a struggling addict who, along with her estranged sister, embarks on a road trip from Iowa to Alaska in search of their birth mother.
Wu, 33, is a Taiwanese-American who was raised in Virginia. She plays Jessica Huang, the mother of three and the pragmatic wife of Randall Park’s character in the ABC comedy “Fresh Off the Boat.”
The series is loosely based on the life of chef Eddie Huang and his book “Fresh Off the Boat: A Memoir.”
