It’s Wednesday, which means it’s socially acceptable to crush on your favorite lady. This week, we’re head over heels for up-and-comer Carla Quevedo of HBO‘s newest original miniseries Show Me a Hero, from The Wire creator David Simon. Chronicling a relatively overlooked part of America’s civil rights history, the series follows the movement and resistance that emerged during the Yonkers housing resolution back in the late 1980s. Starring opposite Oscar Isaac, who portrays 28-year-old mayor Nick Wasicsko, Quevedo plays Nay Noe Wasicsko, our protagonist’s loyal, no-nonsense wife.
WHO’S THAT GAL?: Carla Quevedo
WHAT’S THE CAUSE FOR WORSHIP?: In addition to landing what’s sure to be her breakout role in Show Me a Hero, Quevedo has hit the jackpot as far as onscreen costars are concerned. Yes, this lucky lady gets to make out with the one and only Oscar Isaac. A lot. Now bow down.
WHERE YOU KNOW HER FROM: Though this is likely the first time American audiences will really get to know her, the 27-year-old Quevedo has starred in her fair share of Spanish-language cinema, including plenty of indies like Abril en New York, 20,000 Besos, and The Secret in Their Eyes, which snagged the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER NEXT: In addition to Show Me a Hero, you’ll see Quevedo in next year’s ensemble dramedy Youth in Oregon alongside Christina Applegate, Billy Crudup, and Josh Lucas. She’s also slated for the Dakota Johnson-starring rom-com How To Be Single, also out in 2016. Watch the first two parts of Show Me a Hero this Sunday, August 16, on HBO and its streaming services HBO Go and HBO Now at 8 PM.
