‘Not scandal, mass rape’: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on on Karnataka ‘obscene video’ case
NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna of ‘mass rape’ and sought an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for personally campaigning for the suspended JD(S) leader as part of the NDA alliance. The attack comes amidst a scandal involving Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexually abusing women.
Addressing a rally in Shivamogga, Karnataka, the Congress leader said ‘not sex scandal, but mass rape’ referring to alleged sex scandal involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna
‘Every BJP leader was aware Prajwal Revanna is a mass rapist, yet they supported him, formed alliance with JD(S)’, the Congress leader added.
Rahul Gandhi also alleged that Hassan JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna had raped 400 women and made their videos, and sought an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for campaigning for him.‘The PM should also apologize to the mothers and sisters of India. Prajwal Revanna rapes 400 women and makes videos. This is not a sex scandal but mass rape,’ he said.
‘The Prime Minister supported the mass rapist on the stage in front of Karnataka. He (Modi) told Karnataka that if you voted for this rapist, it will help me.’
‘Every woman in Karnataka should know when the Prime Minister was asking for your vote, he was aware of what Prajwal did. .It is news worldwide that the PM solicited votes for a mass rapist. This is BJP’s ideology. They are ready to form alliances and do anything for power,’ Gandhi added.

Meanwhile, SIT has issued a lookout circular for Revanna. Karnataka home minister, Dr G Parameshwara confirmed that a lookout circular has been issued for Revanna, who is currently abroad. Parameshwara also mentioned that there is no provision to grant more than 24 hours for Revanna to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case.
Prajwal, grandson of former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda, is facing allegations of sexually abusing women.
Scores of explicit video clips allegedly involving the 33-year-old MP had started making the rounds in Hassan in recent days.
He was the NDA candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency where polling was held on April 26. JD(S) joined the NDA in September last year.

In another development, the former driver of accused Prajwal Revanna, who had confessed that he had given the pen drive with the videos of the JD(S) leader sexually abusing women, to BJP leader Devaraje Gowda, has disappeared following a SIT notice.
The driver Karthik had worked with Prajwal Revanna for 13 years and had fallen out with him a year ago over an alleged land deal.
Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy is alleging that some influential leaders are behind the driver’s disappearance thereby alluding to Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar and questioned who sent Karthik to Malaysia.
Talking to the media, Dy CM Shivakumar asked, “Is brother saying so? That means he knows everything. Let him get the information from the central government. I am not crazy to send him (Karthik) abroad. I am a street fighter. There is no necessity for me to carry out politics by hiding people. They (Deve Gowda family) need it.
“That boy (Karthik) had claimed that he had given the pen drive containing obscene videos of Prajwal Revanna to BJP leaders. Let the discussion on release of the pen drive take place later. Let’s not divert from the real issue.”
