This woman got pregnant from having anal sex
She had a C-section (the doctors didnât think she should attempt to âpoopâ out the baby), and the child was healthy.

When your parents told you about the birds and the bees, we bet they didnât tell you that a penis up your poop chute could get you preggers.
Well, luckily, thatâs because about 999,999 times in a million, it canât. When Brian Steixner, M.D., a urologist with the Jersey Urology Group in Atlantic City, was in med school, though, he witnessed the âluckyâ one in a million.
One night, a young, pregnant woman came into the emergency department complaining of spotting. While itâs relatively common for women to have light spotting during pregnancy, the blood was coming from her rectum. Thatânot so common.
The woman was born with whatâs called a cloacal malformation. Meaning: When she was born, she didnât have a urethra, vagina, and anus. She just had one hole, called a cloaca. (FYI, birds have them.) The condition is incredibly rare, occurring in about one in 25,000 female live births, says Steixner (and it only occurs in girlsâlucky us). While no one knows what causes it, itâs usually diagnosed at birth and repaired right away so that the baby has a separate urethra, vagina, and rectum.
Thatâs what happened in this womanâs case. However, something went wrong. Either the surgery was botched or in response to the trauma of surgery, her body formed a fistula (an abnormal connection between organs), and her uterus fused to her rectum. So every month when Aunt Flo came to town, she had her period rectally. Meanwhile, her vagina was a dead-end leading nowhere.
Crazy, right? During Steixnerâs conversation with the woman, he says that she mentioned that she exclusively had anal sex prior to getting pregnant. Well then, that would explain it: She got pregnant through anal sex. âIt blew my mind,â he says. A few months later, she had a C-section (the doctors didnât think she should attempt to âpoopâ out the baby), and the child was healthy, he says.
Steixner says he doesnât know what happened to the woman after she had the baby. And while the case of a woman getting pregnant through anal sex due to a cloacal malformation is incredibly rare, being born with a cloaca can be incredibly difficult, even if it is repaired at birth.
âBuilding the walls to separate the three passages [the urethra, vagina, and rectum] is delicate work,â he says. âThe longer the walls need to be built, the closer surgeons get to the urethral and anal sphincters. Some women suffer from leakage of urine and stool their entire lives. Itâs a huge psychological and quality of life issue.â
However, since youâre probably wondering, even if the urethra and anus donât work 100 percent perfectly after cloacal repairs, everythingâvagina includedâdoes look pretty ânormal.â Of course, no two vaginas look the same (true story!), but chances are, no guy would ever be down there, pause, and ask, âWhat happened here?â
Do You Know?
Pregnancy Via Anal & Oral Sex Possible
Traditional beliefs in creating a baby are undergoing some upheavals this May. First, scientists confirm it is possible for a woman to have fraternal twins from two different fathers if she had sex with two men within the same week.
Second, an Atlantic City urologist confirmed it is possible for a woman to get pregnant via anal sex. But lest women who engage in anal sex push the panic button, they should know that such a case is a very rare one because the woman who got pregnant from anal sex had a rare medical condition called cloacal malformation, reports the New York Post.
Such a woman lacks a uretha, vagina and anus but instead has only one hole, the cloaca. It happens only to one in 25,000 live births of female infants, said Dr Brian Steiner, urologist with the Jersey Urology Group. The condition is actually repairable through a surgery at birth.
However, in the case of the woman, the procedure was botched. Her body responded to the trauma caused by the surgery by forming a fistula, or an abnormal connection between organs, resulting in her uterus connecting with her rectum.
The result was the woman had her menstrual period rectally because while she had a vagina, it did not lead to her womb. When she became pregnant, the woman also had her spotting through the anus.
While the woman admits having anal sex exclusively prior to getting pregnant, she gave birth through a Caesarian section because her doctors believe she could not deliver the baby through her rectum. Her child is healthy, Steiner said.
Meanwhile, in the second case, it also took medical knowledge to get pregnant through oral sex. The parents involved were a female doctor, Sharon Irons, and a family physician from Chicago, Richard Phillips.
Since the couple were carrying an extramarital affair, they did not engage in sexual intercourse but always had oral sex. In one such sex session, Phillips released his semen in Ironsâs mouth which she stored in her cheeks. She then secretly spit the sperm in a test tube and used it to become pregnant.
Irons sued Phillips for child support in a paternity lawsuit that he questioned. But DNA tests confirmed he sired the child. Phillips accused Irons of stealing his semen, but the court rejected his argument and said the sperm was hers, resulting in a court-ordered $800 monthly child support.
So, guys who think they are safe from responsibility by engaging only in anal or oral sex, be careful because they may be surprised by what the DNA tests would confirm.
WTF?
