Rihanna Attacked for Asian ‘Cultural Appropriation’ After Glamour Photo Shoot
American RnB and pop cult star Rihanna has been accused of cultural appropriation after her photo shoot in Chinese national attire emerged online, with criticism flooding the official account of Harper’s Bazaar magazine – the glamour edition that picked the singer for the front cover of its fresh issue.
For the Chinese version of the magazine, the world’s richest female musician posed in a number of geisha-style outfits, with the edition choosing a picture of Rihanna, or Riri as she is lovingly referred to, donning a scarlet open-shoulder dress, which resembles a kimono, as one for the magazine front cover.
Harper’s Bazaar China revealed in the caption for the series of images that the idea behind the cover was to illustrate how a “Western style icon meets Eastern aesthetic”. Despite the slick magazine stating its goals in black and white, references to Chinese culture, including lotus flowers and dragonflies in Rihanna’s manicure as well as fans in her hair, hit a raw nerve.
“As much as I love Rihanna how is this not deemed as cultural appropriation?”
Seriously, Rihanna should just bent over to expose her pussy as she has been doing since time immemorial…
Rihanna Slams Indiana Over “Bullshit” Religious Freedom Restoration Act
Rihanna slammed Indiana over its controversial new Religious Freedom Restoration Act during a performance there at the March Madness Musical Festival. The 27-year-old singer called the act “bullshit,” and urged the crowd to chant “Fuck that shit.” Watch the video below.
Following Rihanna’s emotional debut of her new song “American Oxygen,” the singer didn’t hold back about what she felt about Indiana Governor Mike Pence signing into legislation a bill that allows business owners, based on their religious beliefs, the right to turn away lesbian and gays. “Who’s feeling these new bullshit laws that they’re trying to pass over here? I say fuck that shit. I wanna hear you say, ‘Fuck that shit’ ’cause we’re just living out motherfucking lives, Indiana!” Rihanna then launched into her song “Live Your Life.”
As previously reported, Miley Cyrus also slammed Indiana and called Governor Pence an “asshole” in a Twitter rant. Cyrus also took to Instagram to add, “You may hear that this bill isn’t what the big bad liberals are making it out to be! That this isn’t a discriminatory act it is just to protect the ‘consciousness’ of Christians! To judge anyone for how they want to express themselves or their love to another human is WRONG.”
