Lisa Edelstein began her professional acting career while studying theater at N.Y.U.’s Tisch School of the Arts. After performing in a wide range of productions off and on Broadway, authored and performed the AIDS-related musical “Positive Me” at Ellen Stuart’s La Mama, in Manhattan. It was one one of the earliest AIDS-related theater productions.
Lisa gained her first television experience as a host of the cable series Awake on the Wild Side (1990). In the last several years, she has fearlessly taken on a wide variety of roles for television. She played a call-girl girlfriend on The West Wing (1999), David Conrad’s sister on Relativity (1996), the transsexual boyfriend of James Le Gros on Ally McBeal (1997) and an Orthodox Jewish woman on Family Law (1999). She also played James Spader’s love interest on The Practice (1997), and has had numerous other TV roles and guest appearances.
From 2004-2011, she played the hospital administrator Dr. Lisa Cuddy on the hit medical drama House M.D. (2004).

Necar began working in the theater at age 16 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and has since stayed close to the theater while splitting her time between film and television. In 2011, she played a lead role in the FilmMcQueen production of “Meth Head.” She followed that with a role on the NBC series The Event as resident villainess Isabelle. The year also saw her making her Broadway debut in the Tony Award winning and Pulitzer Prize nominated play ” The Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo,” opposite Robin Williams.

Prior to that Necar scored with fans as Dalia Hassan on the mega-hit Fox TV series, ’24’ for Season 8. Her star level turn in the series earned her a slew of admirers, and garnered her reviews that all agree: “Breakout star of the season,” “Absolutely amazing,” “Necar Zadegan makes the scene here, with her boiling hatred for Suberov contained, but visible,” “special mention should go to the quality of acting overall, in particular Cherry Jones, Necar Zadegan and Mary Lynn Rajskub, who all produced some emotional and heavy scenes.”
In the psychological thriller “Unthinkable,” Necar stars alongside Samuel L Jackson and Michael Sheen, as Jehan Younger. She also recently wrapped the FilmMcQueen production, “Elena Undone” where she plays the title role of ‘Elena Winters.” Her television credits include “Harry’s Law,””A Gifted Man”,”CSI: Miami,” “The Shield,” “Nip/Tuck,” “The Unit,” “NCIS,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Lost” among others. Necar graduated with honors from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in English Literature.
