Woman uses phone app to catch panty-sniffing super
I caught my super sniffing my underwear, swiping my lingerie!
Have you ever been casting about for some undies to wear and sworn up and down you had underpants gnomes? One Manhattan woman did, so she set up a hidden camera to find out where all her underwear was going. What happened next will not surprise anyone.
According to The New York Post, financial analyst Ashley Chase first noticed her bras and panties were missing after returning from a Labor Day trip to the Hamptons:
Chase first suspected something strange was happening inside her $1,875-a-month, fifth-floor studio when she returned from a Labor Day trip to the Hamptons last year and couldn’t find a purple lace bra.And that was not all:
As time passed, a series of undergarments disappeared, including a black-and-gold bikini top, a tan bra and at least three pairs of panties.
“I also realized at that point that underwear I had worn that weekend that were in the dirty hamper were missing,” she said, describing the moment in July when she put the pieces together.
In an effort to get to the bottom of it, Chase borrowed an old iPhone from her sister, downloaded an app called Presence that activates the camera when it senses motion, and hid the phone in her apartment before heading out for the weekend. No sooner had she boarded a train to Montauk than the app was pinging her with damning footage of her building superintendent José Cedillo entering her apartment, grabbing some undies from a closet, and taking a nice, big whiff before putting them in his pocket.
Cedillo was arrested and charged with “burglary as a sexually motivated felony and petit larceny.” In his statement to the cops, he admitted to doing the deed:
“I went in today to look around. I took a pair of panties. I left, I went downstairs, I sniffed them, and I threw them in the garbage….I went in another time a few months ago. I don’t remember when.”
Sniffing her bras and panties is one thing, but throwing them out afterwards? That’s just wasteful. Them shits are expensive.

Cedillo is currently out of prison on $50,000 bail. Chase is also planning to sue the landlord and the building manager, as they could be legally culpable for the actions of their employee. As for the crime of charging $1,875 a month for a studio apartment, they are getting off scot-free.
