California-born model Alyssa Miller, 28, is the face of Blue Illusion’s new-season campaign. She is engaged to Cameron Avery, of Perth band Tame Impala, and lives in Texas.
Summer maybe coming to an end (?), but these new photographs of Alyssa Miller are giving us life. ? Alyssa recently shot with the Aussie brand, Spell & the Gypsy, whose backstory is as unique and influential as their designs.
The line was created by two sisters, Elizabeth and Isabella, alluding “to the dreams of their Latvian grandparents who fled war-torn Europe bound for America, but for a twist of fate ended up in a dusty refugee camp in Australia; to their hippie parents, a leather craftsman and potter, who in the 1970s hopped from town to town following their own wild dreams”.
To see what we are talking about, take a look at the Spell & the Gypsy bullshit below:-
Fashion Q&A: Alyssa Miller on modelling in the social media age
What did you want to be, growing up?
I was a dreamer. I wanted to be a paediatrician, a sports star, a singer – all of it
How did you get started in modelling?
My father sent a photo into an agency after a friend of his suggested I should model. It’s still my agency today.
How has social media changed the modelling industry?
Everyone can be a model or photographer now. It means that as a model, you have to bring more to the table than just your looks. I really enjoy showing who I am through my music, photos and my real life.
Snapshots from the archives,
What’s your personal style?
I am typically in a pair of Levi’s 501s and a blouse.
What labels do you like to wear?
I wear mostly vintage, stuff I collect and sell online.
You’ve recently designed your first collection. Any plans for more?
I’m developing my own vintage-inspired luggage and handbag line.
You’re also a singer-songwriter – how is that going?
It is something that brings me so much joy and fulfilment. I hope to share it with the world very soon.
How do you juggle all your different pursuits? Do you have a favorite?
It is tough to balance. I am currently dedicating much more time to designing, but my music isn’t going anywhere. They satiate different parts of my creative hunger.
What do you most enjoy doing in your downtime?
I don’t have any! Anytime I’m not working is spent with my soon-to-be husband and all of our pets: three dogs, a cat, 10 chickens, two ducks and a pot-belly pig – all rescues.
Enough bullshit… Guess we can expect something scandalous coming out of Alyssa Miller’s Spell & the Gypsy II?
